Why Join Our Club?
Surf Life Saving is about having fun, being physically fit, realising the importance of teamwork, refining aquatic safety skills, enjoying competitions, and most importantly providing a vital community service to help keep our beach a safe place for the entire community. Surf lifesaving offers a range of awards to its members and the community, which enable anyone to learn essential lifesaving skills.
The huge range of opportunities in surf life saving cater to the diverse interests of any member of the community. Members enjoy healthy lifestyle, develop a sense of pride, responsibility and purpose and form lasting friendships in a positive and healthy environment. General fitness, strength and conditioning training with Club coaches is available to all club members who are financial and proficient.
There is certainly a place for everyone in surf lifesaving. If you are unable to perform the duties of an active surf lifesaver, then perhaps your assistance in the administration, communications or fundraising areas are for you.
By gaining some basic awards such as your Radio Operators you can assist with patrol observation and communication duties without having to perform water based rescues.
You may simply want to be involved at a lower level by showing your support for the good work that the many thousand volunteer surf lifesavers do each year by joining as an Supporters’ Club member.
The Junior Activities Program is for children aged between 5 and 13 years.
Sign on days generally commence around August each year. Children need to have a basic water competency, as it is not a learn to swim program, but it develops great surf awareness and surf safety skills to equip your child for our coastal environment. Greenmount Beach is a perfect location for this program.
Membership of surf lifesaving is open to anybody regardless of age, race, colour, religion or sex. Surf life saving is well recognised in the community due to it’s uniqueness as a vital community service and a high profile competitive sport. A Surf Life Saving Club is a place where people from all walks of life can unite with common goals to save lives and enjoy the surf.
